Okay so this projector is supposed to be for the classroom or office but I used it for my home theater! Set up 11 1/2" feet away on the ceiling projecting onto 100" diagonal screen. I love it!!! It might not be a clear as my 50" plasma 720p but it is also 4 times the size! considering most DVD's and most Directv input is 720p or less, I feel comfortable recommending this projector. I have not seen 1080p projectors so I cannot say if they are way better or not but they are twice the price so will they be twice as nice? I do not think so. I was very pleased with the picture quality and the flexibility this projector has to set up the color and the video. I used HDMI 25ft cables and got the best picture. The s video was ok and the RCA composite was not ok! So do not go there. Overall I love the quality and until more stuff is 1080p I see no reason to blow thousands for it. I also did not see any rainbow artifacts but maybe if I had a $2000 projector sitting side by side I could see a difference but to my eyes and wallet this is awesome for $500.I watched another movie last night on it and I will say the brightness (lumens 2800) is plenty for a fairly bright room so it does not have to be completely dark to enjoy. It only gets better as the sun goes down! As for distance, projectorcentral.com has a great feature that you plug in the projector model you are looking at and the diagonal size screen you are planning and it tells you exactly how far back to place the projector!! IT was VERY helpful in making the right spot to hang it! This projector does not have much zoom or ability to "Shift" the picture so dead center and the exact distance back are critical. But once you have that it is easy and awesome! STILL LOVE IT!! [...]OK!! Ran a blu ray DVD through this projector and OMG!! Awesome!! 720p or 1080p is nearly impossible to see the difference. Go for this one and get a blu ray!! Regular DVD's are only 480p so that is all you get. Blu ray will play your DVD's and Blu rays!!!

i had a hard time finding a review for this projector when i bought it, in fact i dident find a single 1.i took a chance and it payed off great. this projector is 3D ready.that means grab your PS3 and a set of DLP link passive 3d glasses(any brand) and your good to go.it runs at 60hrtz in 3d so thats 30 per eye.the 3d is deep very deep call of duty looks like your running through a battle field in 3D on a 120 inch screen.the 3D is done through the HDMI cable.the speakers are not great for games or movies, not very loud.dont worry it has a 3.5 mm audio output to connect it to n e speaker with a headphone slot.no horizontal keystone correction so it needs to be center screen.over all great buy for a gamer or someone who wants HUGE 3D tv. highly recommended.

I was in the market for a cheap 720p 3d dlp link ready projector. The viewsonic with its 3 yrs warranty was a huge factor. I chose this one and the pix were fantastic. 720p at 100 inch diagonal was good enough for me. I was streaming netflix and vudu. Bluray played just fine from the ps3. I had to return it because it needed 11 ft for 100 inch viewing screen. The only knock is that it doesnt come with side legs that you can adjust in the event you project it from the ground rather than ceiling. My floor is a bit tilted on one side due to a converted garage room and this thing didnt have side legs that you can offset with. My old Epson had it and it was very convenient.
