5Great projector, low cost and low bulb replacement cost
By Caldwell
When searching for a projector I had the following criteria which the Epson S1+ met.Low Cost - Best price I found - Amazon - 749.00Low Noise - Epson S1+ is 33dBMinimum 800x600 ResolutionNative 4:3 Aspect RatioHigh ANSI Lumens - Epson S1+ is 1400Decent Contrast Ratio - Epson S1+ is 400:1Low Cost Bulb replacement ($150-$200)For the cost, there was no other projector on the market that could compete. I did not want the lower end DLP projectors, due to rainbow effects that can happen. I also wanted a projector that would be cost effective after the initial purchase. The S1+ bulbs can be found for $150.00 to $200.00, compared to $350-$400 for competitors. BTW: This unit will be used in a small church for Sunday services and cost was a big factor when investing and researching bulb replacement costs. How does it work?We get a great image for our church service with full house lights on, this projector is brilliant. Very, low noise. Most of the time it is used with PowerPoint presentations, but it also does a great job with DVD projection.Image Size? This unit projects a BIG image from a short distance, if you need a large picture, but do not have the space...this may be the projector for you.Quality?I am really impressed with the fit, finish and quality of the Epson projector and will be purchasing the Powerlite Home 10+ for my home theater. How does it compare?I have an Infocus X2 and and NEC VT470 projector and I would take the Epson S1+ over either one of these any day.

5quality screen with a price that doesn't kill
By Lynn M. Greene
-Yes, since this is an LCD projector it has several limitations, including the screen door affect and is also has limited resolution at 800X600. Although many people kick up a fuss about both of these traits, neither really matters. If you sit close enough to see the screen door affect or the individual pixels for that matter, then you probably won't be able to see the whole screen because you are sitting less than one foot away from it.I bought my S1+ about 2 months ago and use it everyday. It has taken a beating when I take it friend's houses, parties, ECT. But has shown no signs of the abuse. When it is set up anywhere from 30" to 60" it looks the same as plasma or a large projector, except it is better because it does not have the glare of a normal TV. Since it's purchase I have also set up a 14-foot screen made of poster board in my garage (it will project nicely almost anywhere on almost any surface), which looks awesome and beats almost any other theater that I've ever been in.When I first started looking through projectors I wanted something that should accept any interface that I threw at it. When I came across the S1+ I was intimidated because I didn't know how well it would project video games such as Halo2 for XBOX. After it's purchase I was relieved to find that I could have my computer, XBOX and PS2 all hooked up to the projector at the same time and switch between them using the remote control that came with it. All of them are awesome, especially with surround sound and games like DOOM3. Even when split into 4 screens for Halo, it's still quality. Also this is a pretty bright projector, I can have my windows open with several lights on and still easily the screen as if it was a TV.This costs less then a plasma or a projection TV and can be made much smaller or larger then either. When they say 30"-300" they mean it. It will consume any wall you put in front of it.Last, it is the easiest thing to transport I have ever seen. For a LAN party I throw my projector, surround sound system and my XBOX into my backpack, jump on my motorcycle and am off in just a few minutes. If you are new to projectors or are just looking for a large HD TV at a good price, then this is the one that I recommend.I am not sure how long the bulb last (some people say they die quickly), mine is just passing 500 hours, but they only cost $175, which is significantly less then most other projectors (around $350).

3When it works, it works well...
By Scott H. Molley
Before getting into how this projector works, I need to preface by saying that I am on my second projector and third bulb in 2.5 months. I teach school, and need the projector about 4 times/day at 15-20 minutes per use. Perhaps I should have considered a machine capable running consistently during a demanding duty cycle, but solid state electronics are usually not phased by this (and the bulbs, priced as they are, should not be either.)When this projector works, it works well. It has a nice, bright image and good clarity/detail. It is quiet, runs cool, is light, and fairly portable. Compared to others on the market, the value per dollar is excellent. I seem to have had machines with teething problems though. My first projector, purchased new mid-January of 2005, exhibited all the symptoms of a bad bulb within 2 weeks, and 20 hours on the clock. I called Epson tech. service, was walked through some diagnostics, and was told that a new projector would be out quickly. I received my "new" projector (actually a refurb. unit with more hours on the bulb than mine had) the next morning. Great turnaround, but to get a refurbished unit for my two-week new one, especially with the bulb hours as they were was no bargain. I called customer service to voice my opinion on this and they agreed that I was due compensation - I was promised a new bulb but never received it. I am still fighting for one. The second projector worked for another 2 weeks, then operation became intermittant for a few hours, then the unit stopped working completely. After another over the phone diagnosis, the rep. told me the bulb was bad, but that bulbs were out of stock -- same story I had received earlier. As of this writing, I am still waiting.I don't know if this problem is endemic to this machine, but mine is certainly no gem. Maybe I need a heavy-duty model. I've always followed directions for cool down, haven't abused it, but continue to suffer the same problem on what is becoming a consistent basis. If I was rich, this wouldn't be problem, I'd just trade up. I give this machine a "C", and I give Epson's Customer Service Dept. a "C-". Next time, initial cost will not be such a huge issue in my purchase decision.

5Great Portable Projector
By Mohan
After trying it for few days I should admit this is an excellent projector which hasn't captured much attention.- It comes with 50 Lumen RGB LED lamp delivers crystal clear HD- I like the fact that it came bundled with the cables required to connect your laptop and tripod is included in the bundle which is very nice.- I've just ordered the iPad connector kit so that I can hookup to my iPhone and iPad.- Integrated speaker is loud enough and sound clarity is too good while watching movies without any distortion,Although I personally use an external speaker for getting a theatre effect. I could project the movie upto 100" without any resolution problems.- Supports Micro SD and USB, I connect my 1 TB external harddrive with USB to watch movies and it reads the harddrive without any issues- Battery Life comes to 1-1.5 hrs if watching a movie, I haven't got a chance to check with presentations and stuff- I'm totally satisfied with this product

1"HD", is it?
By Roy Stogner
If down-sampling 1920x1080 content to 854x480 counts as "High Definition", then what doesn't? Was a 386 with CGA monitor an "HD" video display, because all you have to do is transcode your BluRay to 320x200 with 4-bit color before playback? Falsehoods in advertising deserve 1/5 stars. However: for all I know this is an excellent DVD-quality display, if by dumb luck the people responsible for hiring dishonest marketers also hired honest engineers.

2Beware: Does NOT get advertised LED life
By Pavel B
I bought this projector earlier this year, hoping I could use it as a monitor replacement for 10,000~30,000 hours. At the beginning it was working fine with both digital and analog video sources. After running it for several months with an analog input, I connected it again to a VGA computer output and noticed that the colors in the center were way off (dark and yellowish). I concluded that some sections in one of the color LED light sources (it rapidly switches between R/G/B illumination to produce an illusion of full color) began to fail, LONG BEFORE the advertised 30,000 hours. There was no way to fix the problem. The center of the screen now has a noticeable brown spot, which makes it virtually unusable.THIS PROJECTOR DID NOT GIVE ME MORE THAN 4000 HOURS OF OPERATIONAL TIME. It appears that the LED sources in this projector have not been adequately tested before the lamp life was claimed, and it may be that the LED heat sinks in this projector are insufficient. You will probably NOT be able to run this for the full advertised 30,000 hours, which makes it no more cost-effective than regular, brighter projectors.I spent [...] bucks to bring you this information. You are welcome.

3over 2 years later
By Pat
I bought this projector almost 2 years ago for 500. I bought it because I have a dark basement and wanted to set up a small movie center down there and play my PS3. I can report that the projector does still work well, but for what I wanted it for it not meet my expectations. I will say that it was not advertised to be a complete home theater system lol which I wanted to sort of use it for.I would certainly recommend it at the price its at today. and the LED light keeps this thing running for a long time. I picked this because of the bulb last longer than a reg projector and at the time it was the only HD LED projector on the market. So lets get to the gripes. The remote is really terrible, in fact it really never worked out of the box. and to set the adjustments without it takes alot of trial and error and is very difficult with 4 buttons. The biggest problem I have is the lighting is really bad. The room has to be completely dark in order to see the screen. So I can't use it during the day or I have to black out the windows to use it. Also I find that even when projecting a 70 inch screen the subtitles and reading words can be difficult they bleed together and I have 20/20 vision. Believe me I have tried every adjustment in 2 years that you can think of. I find that on normal settings you can't see anything dark, so any horror movie or game I have to reset the brightness just to see the night scenes, Then the day scenes are too bright. I think bc of the low Lumanints and the low # of color palete are the reasons for these issues.I would say that if you want a nice little projector that you can take anywhere for presentations, or if you want something to project movies on a wall in your bedroom this is great, you will love it. If you want to make it a fixture for your home or if you demand a quality picture, there are good HDTVs for 500 you can get and I would go with a TV over this if I could do it again. Or if I decide to upgrade my basement entertainment room I will go with a better quality projector for sure.

4Maximum Portability
By englucas
I travel a lot and have a beach house that presents an enormous problem with corrosion.Leaving electronic equipment there for extended periods is risky - and expensive. This little projector travels with me, fitting nicely inside my laptop bag.At the beach, I keep it inside a Ziplock bag when not in use.I can watch cable TV via HDMI or AV and the image is surprisingly good for such a small package. It does not heat-up like lamp projectors and goes directly into the bag even after hours of use.The manual zoom is not a problem for me. Once the focus is set, there is no need to fiddle with it, unless you move it to another location.I find that I can remove it out of the Ziplock bag and set it at the same place without the need for adjustments. It is great for watching DVDs and live TV. Of course, it does not have the clarity of a full HD LCD or Plasma set, but it does everything I expected of it.The remote control had a contact problem that could not be resolved, for the little thing was not designed to be repaired by the user.A call to ISIVAL got me a replacement by mail.In all, I am very satisfied with this product and the after sale service.

Product Description

Description:

With 4000 ISO lumens and a contrast ratio of 2000:1 the XGA-resolution Epson PowerLite D6250 Multimedia Projector has the projection power to present large images in venues where ambient light would be a problem for lesser projectors.

However, it's a gentle giant that works and plays well with others. It's got an international 100 - 240 V AC 50/60 Hz power supply and it can handle NTSC, PAL and SECAM TV signals. It can also project 720p, 1080i and 1080p high definition signals. And those signals will stay in pristine digital form from the source thanks to the D6250's HDMI port.

All of those signals benefit from the bright and high contrast Epson 3LCD projector panel. 3LCD delivers clear and vibrant images so true to life you may not believe your eyes.

The D6250 is also PC friendly. You can plug your PC into one of the D6250's two USB ports and use it to project a slide show or presentation. This projector is also equipped to use your local network (LAN) in a wired (via its RJ45 jack) configuration or an optional wirelessly (Wi-Fi) via its 802.11 a/b/g/n capability.

You can make presentations from any PC on your network and you can manage, monitor and control the projector using SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol). You can send important announcements like rescheduling information or weather updates to a fleet of D6250s. They, in turn can email you to alert you to faults (temperature too high, lamp reaching the end of its life and so on).

Product Description

The InFocus IN5108 is a premium digital projector that offers world class power and integration flexibility, with SXGA+ resolution. This projector is ideal for applications which require display of highly detailed information.

The InFocus IN5108 delivers 4000 lumens with a precision optical system that includes a full portfolio of optional lenses (sold separately). Equipped with HDMI 1.3 and five BNC inputs, the IN5108 will connect to the latest PCs and supports 1080p video and up to UXGA resolution (1600 x 1200), providing massive images with fine detail.

The IN5108 easily accommodates existing management systems via RS232 and embedded network control. Additional features include wireless-compatible architecture for connectivity to InFocus LiteShow II wireless adapter, (2) x 4.0 watt stereo speakers and a full-featured remote with laser and wired control functionality.

The InFocus IN5108 is protected under factory warranty for 2 years from date of purchase. The projector lamp has a 6-month warranty from defect or premature failure.

I was concerned about ordering a rebuilt projector but I needed this resolution because I have to connect it to a Mac. The case is a little banged up and the lens has a slight discoloration in one area but when it projects it works great. AND... the resolution is much closer to my Mac's resolution so it looks much better than my old IN5102.I also have an Apple TV connected to the HDMI port to show movies. The Apple TV must be sending the projector weird information because I get a LARGE black border all the way around the picture. I'm projecting onto a 96" screen and when directly connected to the computer with DVI it fills the screen. With the Apple TV it fills only 1/2 the height and about 3/4 of the width. There appears to be no way to adjust it to full width and more height (unless you want to play with the zoom continually every time you change inputs). But I don't think this is a projector problem. Just thought you should know.
