Product Description
A Full HD Cinematic Indulgence! Enjoy the big picture – and the best seat in the house! The BenQ EP5920 makes home theater set-up easy with Full HD resolution, 1800 ANSI lumens, 5000:1 contrast ratio, built-in 10W audio power, and dual HDMI inputs. All you need to do is plug ‘n play! The term Full HD refers to a native resolution of 1920x1080, the highest resolution HD currently available. With resolution at 1080p, you see each image in its full magnificent detail, and every viewing and gaming experience becomes more absorbing. BenQ's DLP projector engine design reduces the cooling time by over 60% and lowers the power consumption to <1W while the projector is inactive with the Standby Mode on. With the DLP filter-free design, you get to save the cost and hassles of filter maintenance and replacement all together – and get better projection quality, too. The DLP engine is virtually immune to color decay, delivering an extended lifespan of reliable color performance without developing a yellow or green tint over time.

By P. Chebib
I have the Panasonic PT AE4000 U, installed in my dedicated home theater. At 3000 dollars (bought 2 years ago), you get one of the best picture quality for a home movie theater. I purchased the BenQ EP5920 recently and use it for backyard viewing. I use a portable campchef screen, 120 inches.I have to admit the picture quality is stunning, the menu functions is very diverse and at 120 inches (diagonal screen) of viewing you can not come close with any other projector at it's price.I played BD movies: wow, the picture quality is stunning, I also streamed from netflix via AppleTV (720P, older model), and the picture was as well very pleasing.I admit that the built in speaker was useless, but I run the audio through my Yamaha RX -A3000. The sound is absolutely gorgeous. The remote is large, backilt, and easy to operate with IR sensors on the front, back and top of the unit. You have the option to tweak the picture in so many different modes. In economy mode the picture while less brilliant is very easy on the eyes. the lamp life is very promising and an added bonus.I was so impressed with the picture quality that I bought the BenQ W710ST, 720 p, and honeslty I am amazed at it's picture quality as well, although at 720 p only.I don't know why other reviewers bashed this unit, I found it to be an excellent value for anyone who is wanting to step up into the front projectos arena. The quality/price ratio is so high it certainly deserves a 5 stars rating. Sure it is not your LED 1080p, but you find will the picture quality of the BenQ EP5920 to be so beautiful and so addictive that you'll be watching it more often then your LED TV.ProJector central rated the BenQ EP5920 very highly in their home movie section, I was not disapointed, in fact I was in for a pleasant surprise. If you are still debating if this unit would be a good purchase, I'll tell from my own experience: simply put, it is a great purchase. Grab one, you'll thank yourself later.

First of all, this is a great projector. I use it ceiling-mounted in a low-light home theater setting and it performs exactly as expected on a 120" screen. The reason this projector doesn't (or didn't, at the time of writing this) win everyone over is because it seems to be sitting in between markets. I do not think that the color quality would be up to the same standard if this was used in my living room. It also seems that some people that purchase this for living room use are experiencing "rainbow effects". I can't speak personally about how it performs in rooms with more light, however this hasn't been something that I have experienced in my own application. It's apparent among things such as the "Plug 'n Play" tagline, and the appearances of "Living Room" in the settings menus that BenQ tried to appeal half-assedly to the living room market with what is otherwise a great home theater projector.I've since used this projector for all kinds of content, from movies and TV to League of Legends streams, all performing as expected. One thing worth noting is that you may have to go into the settings and turn up the HDMI amplification with certain devices and/or lengths of HDMI. My FiOS receiver had no issues with the long HDMI run from the projector to the front of the room, however I was experiencing lots of visual distortion with my HTPC without the amplification increased. It was a problem solved in 30 seconds of flipping through the settings menu, however it's something that could easily lead someone to assuming that the projector is faulty. In low light settings it's worth changing up the settings a bit, as the default settings seem to be skewed towards living room viewing. I'd recommend that you use the "cinema" preset with the "brilliant color" feature off for the most accurate colors. The product has an IR receiver on both the top (or underside, if it's ceiling mounted) and the front of it providing good IR reception.

By Sean J. Forester
I have been using this every day for a month now. This is my third home theater projector and I am amazed at how much they have improved over the last few years. This projector has better brightness, color, and contrast than my previous one, and this one is ~1/3 the price of the previous. Oh, and the bulbs last longer and are about half the price. As for objective performance. I am a cinephile and know how to calibrate color and sound to THX standards, and this projector has fantastic controls for adjusting just about any color setting. And it has a great picture right out of the box. There was very little calibration that had to be done. Mostly I just had to turn off the Brilliant Color option, which actually does a great job in a high ambient light environment, but at the cost of washing out the colors and destroying white levels. With that in mind, this projector is great for large home-theaters or rooms with just a bit of ambient light, but not blinds open at mid-day ambient light. This is NOT a living room projector, unless you have great light control in your living room.My only complaint about this projector is the lack of lens shift and the relatively small zoom range. I had to utilize a first-surface mirror to get this projector to fill my 120" screen. But hey, they had to cut expenses somewhere, and the picture is more important than these features. This is a fantastic BUDGET projector.
